Myopia Management at Pelham Eye Center
Take Control of Your Child’s Myopia
Myopia, or nearsightedness, is rising among children. Studies show that myopia has doubled among US Children since the 1990s.
The eyes of a child with myopia become longer in axial length over time, causing distant objects to appear blurry. If not managed properly, myopia often worsens as a child gets older.
High levels of myopia can not only affect quality of life, but may increase the risk for sight-threatening complications later in life, including retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and myopic maculopathy.
Myopia management provides clear vision while slowing down myopia progression and halting axial length elongation of the eye.
The doctors at Pelham Eye Center follow the latest evidence-based treatment plans for myopia management, including low-dose Atropine and myopia control contact lenses.
